Foldersmith collects no data about you. There’s no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and what you make stays on your Mac.

Who we are

What stays on your Mac

Foldersmith keeps everything it works with on your Mac:

• Your designs, your design library and your settings.
• The folders you drop on it. Foldersmith changes the icon only of a folder you give it.
• The photos and images you add. When you pick a photo, macOS gives Foldersmith that photo, not your library.
• API keys for cloud image engines, and the number of free applies you’ve used, in your Mac’s Keychain.

We run no server that the app sends any of this to, so we never see it.

Making images with AI

AI layers are optional. Foldersmith sends something off your Mac only when you generate an AI image, and only to the engine you chose.

• Image Playground is built into macOS as part of Apple Intelligence, and Apple’s privacy policy covers it.
• Cloud engines (OpenAI, Stability AI, xAI and Pollinations) work only after you add your own API key in Settings. When you generate, Foldersmith sends your description, with the instructions it adds such as “a folder icon on a transparent background”, straight from your Mac to that provider, signed with your key. It doesn’t pass through us. What the provider does with it is covered by its own policy: OpenAI, Stability AI, xAI and Pollinations.

Leave out of a description anything you wouldn’t want the provider to see.

Buying Foldersmith Unlimited

The App Store handles the purchase. We don’t receive your name, your payment details or your Apple Account. Foldersmith only asks the App Store whether you own Foldersmith Unlimited, including through Family Sharing.

Crash reports from Apple

If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers, in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Analytics & Improvements, Apple may send us crash reports and usage statistics for Foldersmith that don’t identify you. You can turn this off in the same place.

Children

Foldersmith collects no personal information from anyone, children included.

Your choices

There’s no account to close, and we hold no data of yours to send you or delete. What Foldersmith keeps is on your Mac: delete designs from the library, and remove API keys in Settings ▸ API Keys.

If you email us, we use your message only to reply to you, and delete it once we no longer need it.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
