Restore Foldersmith Unlimited
On a new Mac, or after reinstalling, open Foldersmith ▸ Settings ▸ General and click Restore Purchases. Use the Apple Account you bought it with, or one in the same Family Sharing group.
Put a folder’s standard icon back
Drag the folder from Finder onto the preview area under the canvas. It gets the standard icon back. This works on any folder, and never needs a purchase or a free apply.
Free applies
You can apply three designs to folders for free. Each time a design is written to a folder counts as one, including a new design on a folder you’ve already done. If an apply fails, you get it back. Foldersmith Unlimited removes the limit and adds PNG export.
AI layers
- Image Playground needs a Mac with Apple Intelligence turned on in System Settings ▸ Apple Intelligence & Siri.
- Cloud engines (OpenAI, Stability AI, xAI and Pollinations) need your own API key from the provider. Add it in Foldersmith ▸ Settings ▸ API Keys. The provider bills you for what you generate.
If the provider refuses a description, change the wording and try again. Each provider has its own content rules.
Custom icons on your other Macs
macOS keeps a custom folder icon on the Mac where it was applied, and iCloud Drive doesn’t sync it. Save the design as a file, open it on your other Mac, and apply it there.
